The flag of the coast guard of Catalonia was the flag granted to the Catalan Navy in the 13th century, based in the arms of Admiral Roger de Lauria, out of use for centuries but readopted in the Republican period.

Proposed Federal State of Catalonia (1873)

On 12 February 1873 was hoisted in the balcony of the Barcelona Town Hzll the federal flag of Catalonia, red with a white triangle at hoist bearing the red letters "DEMOCRACIA". Sourronding the triangle were several white stars and, in bigger letters, the word "CATALUÑA" (Diario de Barcelona).
