Presentation of Trnava

Trnava is located about 55 km south-west of Osijek, west of Đakovo. It has about 1,900 inhabitants in six villages, the main village of the same name has about 700 inhabitants, mostly Croats, with just under 10% of Serbs. The main production is wine.

Flag of Trnava

The symbols of Trnava are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Trnava, adopted on 13 July 2007 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 14 July 2007 in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, No. 3.
The municipality decided to change the previous symbols by Conclusion Zaključak o pokretanju inicijative za izradu grba i zastave Općine Trnava, adopted on 9 March 2006 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 22 March 2006 in Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, No. 3.
Statutory Decision Statutarna odluka o izmjeni i dopuni Statuta Općine Trnava, adopted on 15 May 2006 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 18 May 2006 in Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, No. 4, removed the description of the unapproved symbols from the Municipality Statutes.
The current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Trnava, adopted on 14 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 15 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, No. 3, consolidate the 2007 Decision into the text of the Statutes, which now includes the description of the symbols.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

Coat of arms of Trnava

The coat of arms is "Gules a bunch of grapes or with two leaves vert in a chalice argent on a mount vert".
The chalice represent the "presence of the Diocese" in the region, since wine production was mainly for the use of the nearby Đakovo Diocese; the grapes symbolise viticulture. The coat of arms is vaguely based on the previous, unapproved coat of arms.

Ceremonial flag of Trnava

The ceremonial flag is a white gonfalon bordered golden, ending triangularly with a golden fringe along the bottom, with the coat of arms bordered golden in centre, the golden inscription of the municipality's name above it in an arch and a line, and with two green grapevines with yellow bunches of grapes below.

Former symbols of Trnava

The first symbols of Trnava were prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Trnava, published in 1995 in Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, No. 1.
The Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Trnava, adopted on 16 October 2001 by the Municipality Assembly and published in Službeni glasnik Općine Trnava, includes in Article 4 a description of the symbols.
The symbols were not approved by the Central State Office for Administration.

The flag is in proportions 2:3, horizontally divided yellow-green with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is in a red shield with a green double mount, forming with the pointing end of the shield in the base a green heart shape. From the heart is issuing a white cross from which is issuing a semi-sun with eight rays. In the base of the green part are a red bunch of grapes in the centre, two yellow wheat ears in dexter, and an golden oak leaf with three acorns in sinister.
