Pleternica is a town of 13,000 inhabitants, somewhat less than 4,000 in the town of the same name. It is located some 10 km south-east of Požega at the gate to Požega Valley. In the 1992/93 reform Pleternica was given the Municipality status, which was upgraded to Town status in 1997.
