Presentation of Čabar

Čabar is town with somewhat more than 5,000 inhabitants, located 30 km due north of Rijeka on the border with Slovenia, around the point where Croatia forms a wedge into Slovenia.

Flag of Čabar

The symbols of Čabar are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Čabra, adopted on 31 March 1995 by the Town Assembly and published on 9 October 1995 in the County official gazette Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 20.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, dark green with the coat of arms in the middle.

Coat of arms of Čabar

[Municipality coat of arms]

The coat of arms is "Vert a bar argent in chief a fortified city of the same and in base a deer's head erased or", as reported by Oštrić [osg02] and used.
The coat of arms prescribed in the aforementioned Decision is different since the white bar is described to be wavy. It is also prescribed that the inscription "Grad Čabar" should be below the coat of arms in golden letters. I suspect that the Ministry might have "rectified" the bar in the coat of arms as well as removed the inscription from the flag
