Babina Greda is located some 40 km south-west of Vukovar, next to rivers Sava and Berava, about 10 km upstream of Županja. It has over 4,000 inhabitants all living in the village bearing the same name. They actually tend to be proud of their place they nickname "The World's biggest village"; though this is probably hard to maintain, the village is surely the largest rural settlement in Croatia.

The coat of arms is "Azure a fess or in the chief a mullet also or and in the base a bar argent".
The fess stands for the place name (greda means "a beam"), representing the legendary "beam", the higher non-flooded ground next to the rivers where the place developed. The star is a symbol of god Mars, connecting the coat of arms with the coat of arms of Slavonia, while the white bar symbolizes rivers Sava and Berava.
The gold color of the "beam" symbolizes also the wealth of the place, the golden embroidery traditional here, the golden dukats (gold coins worn as ornament in folklore costumes), wheat fertility and cattle wealth. The star of Mars is also a protection from evil. The blue shield symbolizes wisdom, prudence and nobility.
