The symbols of Jakovlje were adopted in the second half of 2006.
According to the website of the local branch of a political party: "The commission established to determine the proposal for the coat of arms and the flag of the Municipality of Jakovlje determined the proposal of the ideal solution on 27 September 2005. The company Heraldic Art of Rijeka shall, based on that, prepare several variants and the Municipality Assembly shall on one of its subsequent sessions adopt the final solution, so our municipality shall finally get our coat of arms and flag"

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms of Jakovlje is "Azure a tamburica argent in bend between three crowns or in chief and an apple or in the base."
A tamburica is a traditional folk instrument in the region. The traditional religious center of the municipality is in Kraljev Vrh, where is the chapel of the Three Holy Kings. The three crowns may therefore stand both for the three kings and for the three villages of the municipalities.
