The city flag was adopted on Sep 21st 1968 by city Notice No 163.

The blue flag is charged with yellow city emblem in the center.

The flag proportions are 2:3

The blue stands for sky, sea and the yellow for the scorching sun and peace.

The stylized kanji MIYA 宮 of MIYAZAKI is the city emblem.

The outer circle stands for peace, central end for solidarity and the sector form for development of increasing prosperity of the city.
