Background

In June 2007 I visited Macau and found their flag and emblem adopted March 31st 1993 and other 15 finalists as attached. Those proposed flags and arms are displayed in the Macau Museum.

Shows the facade of St. Paul's cathedral in Macau (a free standing masonry wall: the rest accidentally burn in 1835 (see details on Wikipedia); stylized in brown on white on the center of a red, white and red vertical tricolor with rounded edged on the upper fly and bottom hoist corners of the white area.

Stylized red "M" with large red star above four smaller four red stars in an arc open to the top on the center of the central panel of a red, white and red horizontal "Spanish" triband of red, white and red.

The "M" stands for Macao, and the five stars refer to China (as in the P.R.C. flag).

Vertical bicolor of dark green and red with white gull above bridge in white overall. The colors may show a link to Portugal and the bridge seems to be Gov. Nobre de Carvalho Bridge.

Red flag with white stylized bridge outline under five yellow stars set in counterchevron parallel to the bridge "hump". The stars and red background color stand surely for the Chinese flag, and the bridge seems to be Gov. Nobre de Carvalho Bridge.
