Plain (monocolored) portuguese subnational flags are
not allowed to have armless
variations: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.

São Roque do Pico municipality had 3629 inhabitants in 2001 and consists
of 5 communes covering 144,31 km², taking up the central-northeastern
portion of Peak Island (Pico). It is part of

"São Roque do pico" means "Saint Roch of the peak", the latter for
the municipality location; no hints of either in the arms,
which refer to the local importance of wine and whaling.
