The municipality of Cirkulane was formed in 2006 by secession from Gorišnica.

The Cirkulane branch of the SDS party has published on its website proposals of a coat of arms for the municipality.
The minutes of the sessions of the Municipal Council give further details on the adoption process.
On 25 March 2007, it was decided to run a contest for the design of the municipal symbols.
On 26 March 2007, the Mayor reported to the Council the opening of the contest.
On 26 April 2007, the ad hoc Commission presented several selected proposals to the Council.
On 21 September 2007, the Mayor reported that the proposal sent to heraldists for opinions
had received a negative assessment - it does not comply with heraldic
rules and it would not be possible to register it in the heraldic
register in the State Archives, so that a new contest should be launched to select a new design.
