Description

Port Stephens Yacht Squadron (PSYC) is based near the Soldiers Point Marina.

The burgee of PSYC is orange with a black cannon. The cannon probably recalls that a garrison of soldiers was established in 1820 in what is called today Soldiers Point, because Port Stephens had became a popular haven for escaped convicts.

The club's postal address is Nelson Bay, NSW, Australia. Founded 1971 as Port Stephens Yacht Squadron, current name 2003; more history here

What about the cannon, you ask. See pp. 18-19 of the June 06 Quadrant (PDF) for the origin (1826 no less).

Burgee with black vertically placed initials (hoist), this time a real one, shown on p. 5 (and others) of above pdf file.
