Municipality

The municipality of Mampituba (2,990 inhabitants in 2018; 15,788 ha) is located on the border with Santa Catarina state, 230 km north-east of Porto Alegre.
The municipality of Mampituba was established by State Law No. 10,671 promulgated on 28 December 1995.

Symbols

The flag of Mampituba is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 41 promulgated on 10 November 1997.

Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Mampituba shall have as official colors green, white and red, and be composed of two panels, inspired by the design of the flag of Portugal and by the colors of the flags of Rio Grande do Sul and Italy, representing:

a) Green (vert): a symbol of honor, civility, courtesy, glee, and abundance; green is also the symbol of hope, as the greening fields in spring promising profuse harvests.
b) White: a symbol of peace, friendship, integration, work and community harmony.
c) Red (gules): a symbol of dedication, patriotic love, audacity, intrepidity, courage and valiance.

Article 2.
The flag shall obey the following rules.
I. The flag shall be composed of two panels, green and red in usual shades, green and red arranged in a rectangle and white in a circle between the two rectangles, the green rectangle at the flag's left (of 7 units) and the red rectangle (of 13 units) at its right.
II. The flag shall be charged in the center with a white panel, of 7 units, featuring the municipal coat of arms.

Article 3.
I. The flag's width shall be of 14 units.
II. The flag's length shall be of 20 units.
III. The coat of arms shall be of 7 units in width, leaving 3 units above it and another 3 units beneath it.

The coat of arms of Mampituba is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 40 promulgated on 10 November 1997.

Article 1.
A classical Flemish-Iberian shield surmounted by a mural crown composed of six towers or, four visible. In the center on a field vert (green) the mountains that characterize the municipality's geography. On this field a river crossing the municipality as the town's namesake and a wheel representing the colonial watermills. A missionary cross recalling a significant event kept in the religious memory. In chief, a sun representing greatness. In base, on a field argent (silver) representing the soil from which sandstone is extracted. In the center of the dexter part of the field vert, two stylized arms breaking the soil, representing work, surmounted by the symbol of food industry.
The shield supported dexter and sinister by bananas and tobacco plants, respectively. Beneath the shield a scroll gules inscribed argent (silver) the toponym "MAMPITUBA" surrounded by dates "28/12" and "1995".
