The municipality of Schroeder (15,316 inhabitants in 2010; 14,357 ha) is located 220 km north-west of Florianópolis. The municipality is named for its founder, Christian Mathias Schroeder, from Hamburg.

Description of the Flag

A green flag, with the municipal arms in the centre over four white arrows extending toward to the corners of the flag.

The flag and arms of Schroeder are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 233 promulgated on 3 October 1975.

Article 2.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Schroeder is of rounded-off style, aka "Portuguese", with the following deign: On a field or (yellow) a bend sinister checky green and argent (white), in three lines; dexter (viewer's right) a black fer de moline. A five-towered mural crown argent. A white scroll [...] inscribed "SCHROEDER" in black letters.

Article 3.
The flag is rectangular, with the proportions of the national flag and the following design: A green flag shield, a white saltire with arrowed end; in the center, the coat of arms of the municipality of Schroeder, or in the field substituted by yellow, and argent of the bend sinister and of the crown substituted by white.

Article 4.
The proportions of the shield are 4.5 units in length on 6 units in width. The bend sinister (a stripe ascending from the viewer's left to right) is 1.5 unit in width, the checkered pattern (small squares) has three lines, each of 0.5 unit in width, with alternating green and argent (white) pieces; the fer de moline is 1.5 unit in width on 1 m in width in its larger part. The dimensions of the flag are 20 units in length on 14 units in width. The saltire (St. Andrew's cross) is displayed so that its ends point to the flag's angles. Each arm is 19 units in length and 1 unit in width. The points form right angle of 1.5 unit in the edges. The coat of arms placed in the flag's center is 10.5 units in width, from the upper point of the central tower to the lowest point of the scroll.

Article 6.
The symbolic representation of the flag and arms is the following.
The shape of the shield is universal for Brazilian municipalities.
The scroll, by its simplicity, constitutes the simplest means of identification.
Or, according to heraldic rules, expresses the inhabitant's nobleness and personal resources.
The checky bend sinister alludes to penetration roads and intense sharing of land, with diversification of a agriculture; this agricultural vocation is also expressed by the green color.
Argent is a symbol of purity and products' good quality.
The fer de moline refers to industrial processing of agricultural products, alluding also to the meaning of the German word "Schroeder".
The St. Andrew's cross indicates the social and economical development of the town to all its quarters.
