Description of the flag

Douglas College is a community college (or junior college) with its main campus in New Westminster, BC. There is also a campus in Coquitlam (David Lam Campus). Some classes are held at Maple Ridge's Thomas Haney Centre, but this is not considered a "campus" of Douglas any longer. Douglas' campus in Surrey became Kwantlen College in 1980. Douglas was founded in 1970, and is named for Sir James Douglas, the first Governor of the Colony of British Columbia. It currently serves about 9000 students, many of whom use Douglas as a "stepping stone" to degree- granting universities such as Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.
