Vert
a Chestnut Tree Or fructed and eradicated.
Željko Heimer, 6 October 2001
The
tree on the flag of Castasegna is a chestnut-tree. The connection between the
chestnut-tree (castagno in Italian) and the name of the commune is obvious but
there's no evidence of canting arms according to the book. The
chestnut-tree appeared on a seal of this municipality in the 19th century.
Pascal Gross, 5 October 2001
[I can't follow Pascal/the book here. For me the connection between castagno and Castasegna is given, which makes the emblem canting.]
