Wiesmoor Municipal Flag

Description of flag:
It is a green over yellow horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms in the centre.
Meaning: The green colour is symbolizing woods and meadows, the yellow colour peat-based electricity having been generated by a local power station.
Source: I spotted this flag in front of the municipal assembly hall, but it could be viewed best, fixed on the wall of an electricity shop.

Wiesmoor Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden shield is a mainly black capercaillie (Auerhahn), armed red, with some white feathers too. The shield has a black chief showing a golden flash.
Meaning:
The capercaillie is representing the suffix "-moor". This bird is a typical example of the fauna in North German higmoors. The flash is alluding to the power station, which had been built in 1907 and supplies the region between Lower Elbe and the Dutch border.
Source: Stadler 1970, p.83

The coat of arms was approved in 1950 by minister of interior of Lower Saxony.
