    It is a red-yellow vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is slightly shifted to the top.

    Vulkaneifel County Coat of Arms

    Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent parted by a cross Gules, at sinister Or a lion rampant Sable armed and ztongued Gules over all a label Gules, on heart point an inescutcheon Or fretty Gules.
    Meaning:
    The inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Counts of Daun, which are also the arms of the naesake city. The dexter half displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, former local rulers until the beginning of the 19th century. The sinister half displays the family arms of the Counts of Blankenheim-Gerrolstein. which are also the arms of the municipality of gerolstein and the namesake district (German: Amt). Many maar lakes are located in the county. Thus on 1 January 2007 the former Landkreis Daun was renamed into Vulkaneifel County.

    The date of approval of flag and banner is unknown. The arms were approved on 25 February 1951 by Minister of Interior of Rheinland-Pfalz.
