Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an eradicated beech Vert having 16 leaves and a branch cut, accompanied in sinister base by a Latin cross Sable.
Meaning:
The beech (German: Buche) is symbolising forestal riches. Hofbieber is located in a region, which had been denoted by St. Boniface as "Buchonia" (= land of beeches) in the 8th century. The number of leaves is representing the 16 former municipalities of Hofbieber. The cut branch is representing the Iron Curtain, which divided Germany until 1990 and is alluding to the fact that parts of the municipalities got lost due to German dispartment after WW2 in 1949. The cross is referring to the Abbey of Fulda, to which the area historically belonged and is stressing the Catholic roots of the local people.
