Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, two crescents Or endorsed, in base a facetted 6-point star Argent.
Meaning:
The origin oft he arms is disputed. Inquiries of Carl Knetsch and H.J. von Brockhusen claimed that the arms had been those of the local Lords of Allendorf<7i>. Their kin became extincted in the 15th century. According to the local chronicler Norbert Henkel however the evidence of that claim is insufficient.
The arms were approved on 11 April 1967 by Minister of Interior of Hesse.
