Rottenburg Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess into silver (= white) over red.
Meaning:
In 1280 Count Albert II of Hohenburg, administrator (Landvogt) of Swabia, built a new castle near a ford of the Neckar River and a settlement, which he named Rottenburg. It gained city rights in the early 14th century. Before 1350 it merged with neighbouring Ehingen to a new city. The seal, the oldest prints are from 1282, shows the arms of the Counts of Hohenberg. The arms have thus not changed since, even though often some form of damascene was used in the red field.
Source: Stadler 1971, p.89

The flag colours are traditional. Their existence was mentioned by Stadler (1971). Rottenburg upon Neckar, Haigerloch and Horb upon Neckar have the same proper symbols.
