The municipality of Villaquirán de los Infantes (151 inhabitants in 2012; 1,298 ha) is located in the west of the Province of Burgos, 30 km from Burgos. The municipality is made of the villages of Villaquirán de los Infantes and Villanueva de las Carretas (17 inh.).

Symbols of Villaquirán de los Infantes

The flag and arms of Villaquirán de los Infantes are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 17 August 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 8 February 2002 by the Mayor, and published on 6 March 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 46, pp. 3,090-3,091 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular, in proportions 1:1. Upper right triangle (5/10) blue, a bend or (1:10), lower left triangle (5/10) green, a bend or (1/10). The rest red. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules, a castle of Castile or masoned sable port and windows azure ensigned with two six-pointed stars or, 2a. Azure, a pair of scales of justice argent and a sword of the same at the dexter arms of the scales. The tradition of Villaquirán to draw the sword with the hilt in chief is respected here, 2b. Vert, an abbot's crozier two spikes or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
