Presentation of Navacerrada

The municipality of Navacerrada (2,862 inhabitants in 2014; 2,729 ha) is located in the north-west of the Community of Madrid, on the border with Castilla y León (Province of Segovia), 50 km of Madrid.
The Pass of Navacerrada (1,858 m), located on the municipal territory of Cercedilla, is the site of the ski resort of Puerto de Navacerrada (history), the closest ski resort to Madrid. Navacerrada is named for nava, "an open place", and cerrada, "close", referring to the amount of snow that prevented in winter any connection between Madrid and Segovia through the pass.

Symbols of Navacerrada

The flag of Navacerrada (photos, photo) is horizontally divided green-white-green (1:3:1) with the municipal coat of arms in the middle. The symbols do not appear to have been officially approved.
