Symbols of Arcos de la Polvorosa

The flag and arms (image) of Arcos de la Polvorosa are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 20 April 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on 25 April 2001 by the Mayor, and published on 18 May 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 96, p. 7,695 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, made of seven horizontal stripes with proportions 1:5, 1:10, 1:10, 1:5, 1:10, 1:10 and 1:5, from top to bottom, blue, white, yellow,white, yellow, white and blue.
Coat of arms: Azure over waves argent and azure arches [arcos] or ensigned with a sword argent hilted or and a scimitar of the first hilted of the second per saltire, a bordure or four holly oak leaves vert and four elm leaves of the same in turn. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The bridge must represent the local medieval bridge over river Esla, known as the Deustamben Bridge, named for its putative architect, Pedro Deustamben (12th century).
