About the Flag

Speaking of oaks and ridges: Apparently Oakridge, Gloucestershire has had a flag since at least 4 September 2010.

Stroud News - 7 September 2010 - Crispin Northey:
"A new village flag was unveiled at Oakridge Village Show on Saturday. A kind donation by Alex and Gill Davis, the flag and flagpole will stand in the village hall grounds. The flag was the result of a village wide competition for entrants to send in their owns designs which would represent the Oakridge community. Winners of the competition, Gordon and Maureen Ward, opted for a countryside scene with the oak as a prominent symbol of the village. The raising of the flag marked the beginning of the show ..."

Curiously, the flag shown in the accompanying photograph has nothing in common with that description, except for the oak theme. In the photograph we see what appears to be the reverse of the flag, where the unfortunately added text "OAKRIDGE" is in obverse. Presumably this is true for both sides. Whether this is also true for the oak branch is not easy to determine from this image.
