Nieuwveen is a former municipality in Zuid-Holland province, since 1991 merged into the new municipality of Nieuwveen, which was renamed Liemeer in 1994.
A new flag was adopted: two stripes proportioned 1:2 in the colors white and red, with on the dividing line, of 4/5 flagheight, an 8-pointed star countercharged.
Adopted 22 May 1968 by municipal resolution.
Nieuwveen is halfway between Leiden and Amsterdam, southeast of the Haarlemmermeer.

This is the flag of Nieuwveen, used in 1938 in honor of the 40th anniversary of Queen Wilhelmina's reign. This is a banner of arms.
The coat of arms was: gules; in chief a fess of which hang three bells, all or; in base an 8-pointed mullet argent.
