The arms are Or a cloth Gules fixed by a staff Azure, in chief a chestnut Proper between two bees Azure, in base a valley Vertcharged with a pale wavy Azure fimbriated Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CURRAL DAS FREIRAS - CÂMARA DE LOBOS".
Meaning:
"Curral" in Portuguese means "corral", an open air enclosure for cattle, but in this use it refers to an enclosed valley. The arms are thus partly canting.

Curral das Freiras Commune is one of the five communes of Câmara de Lobos Municipality (q.v.); it had 1673 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 25,07 km².
