It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of blue and yellow.

Coat of arms

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Vert, a pair of keys, crossed per saltire, the bendy one Or and the sinister bendy one Argent, in chief a goshawk Argent, charged with an inescutcheon Azure, charged with five plates in quincunx. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "PONTA DELGADA - S. PEDRO".
Meaning:
The goshawk is a local symbol of the Açores. The quina is a national symbol. The base with green waves is representing the Atlantic Ocean. The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, name giver of the commune.
