About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent, four paly wheat ears Vert ordered per fess in chief, a boar passant Sable armed Gules in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "MEIMÃO".

Former symbols (1992 - 1995)

The former flag was quartered of red and white with centred arms. the coat of arms was the same as current with different colours: the wheat ears had been Or, the boar's colour had been auburn.

Presentation of Meimão

Meimão Commune is one of the nine communes of the Penamacor municipality (q.v.); it had 280 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 33.2 km².
