About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field gyronny of eight of yellow and blue.
Meaning of the colours:
Yellow is symbolizing local riches, the power of labour and the gold, which had been found in the mines of Lugar de Presa da Bouça. Blue is the traditional colour of the commune and of the local football club as well.

The chestnut twig is alluding to the chestnut hedgerows (Port.: castanheiros rebordões), which according to "old documents" are the origin of the commune's name.
