Shield Gules, St. Mary, nimbed Or, robed Azure and coated Argent, in her arms baby Jesus Christ, also nimbed Or, surrounded by two laurel wreaths Or, in chief 14 bezants ordered per fess 7:7. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE PÓVOA DE LANHOSO - N. S. AMPARO"
Meaning:
St. Mary as Our Lady of the Sanctuary is the local patron saint.
