About the flag

The flag of Casa Pia Atlético Clube is a white ~>3:5 flag with a black double saltire and on its centre an ogival shield Sable a cross patty Gules voided Argent cornered by the letters "CPAC" Argent and orle Argent. The letters are thick with slab serifs and the orle is probably not heraldic. This flag can be seen in the club's stadium in Lisbon (Pina Manique, near the city camping) and everywhere else the club plays.
Casa Pia (="pious house") is an old state-owned social support institution, which cares for children in need, especially orphans. At < http://www.casapia-ac.pt/tpltimgs/d1257/MainBackground.jpg > an image of the full emblem: For crest a goose, the institution's mascot. This Casa Pia Atlético Clube (meaning Pious House Athletcs Club, a name horribly calqueed from English: in correct Portuguese it would be "Clube Atlético da Casa Pia") is connected to the main institution (though the official website < http://www.casapia-ac.pt/ > is not clear about its nature); this emblem is the club's only.
The cross on the emblem stands for simple portugeuseness, with no specific connections neither to the ancient Christ Knight's Order , nor to the Discoveries , nor to the Portuguese Air Force , nor to Madeira . The latter two would be anachronistic - the club's emblem is surely as old as the club itself, founded in 1920 (see founder's uniforms' on line at < http://www.casapia-ac.pt/casapia%2Dac/MainPage.aspx?page=5 >). This cross is also used in the much older emblem/CoA of Casa Pia itself: vd. < http://www.casapia.pt/Portals/0/logo.gif > (no idea about its flag for the moment).
