Description of the flag

The website at www.orovalleyaz.gov shows a seal in a circular format. The centre is surrounded by the words 'ORO VALLEY ARIZONA' in small black capitals, with 14 small five-pointed copper-coloured triangles, seven a side, to the right and left of the centre of the seal, and with the words 'FOUNDED 1974' also in black capitals at the bottom. The centre is multicoloured and features a pale blue sky surmounting a rugged mountain range in various shades of brown in the mid-ground. A spiral-shaped white cloud emerges from a gap in the mountains to the left. The foreground consists of a flat valley floor, also in earth tones, with a very pale blue river at the foot of the mountains.

The Town of Oro Valley seal was designed by a local artist by the name of Matthew Moutafis. The Town of Oro Valley Seal was adopted by motion as the official seal of the Town on August 8, 1990. With that motion, the seal became part of the official letterhead, business cards, lapel pins, and flag. Currently, in the Town Council Chambers, the United States flag, the State of Arizona flag, and the Town of Oro Valley flag flank a woodcut of the seal. The woodcut was crafted by a then current Council Member, Steve Rennacker. The significance of the Town of Oro Valley seal revolves around the natural beauty of the Town. The Town is nestled in the Santa Catalina mountain range and in that range is the elusive Big Horn sheep. The spiral/cloud shape signifies the sheep's horns. The flag is white with the Town Seal centered in the middle. The flag is approximately 4' x 5'.
