Bay Head Yacht Club

The summer resort town of Bay Head was founded in 1879 by three Princeton bankers. The Bay Head Yacht Club was organized and founded in 1888 "to promote yachting and rowing and to foster athletic sports upon the water and to promote the general prosperity of Bay Head." The club is located at the northern terminus of Barnegat Bay in New Jersey.

In 1984 club member Sam Merrick managed the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team to three gold and two silver medals in Los Angeles. Sam was honored later that year with US Sailing's most prestigious award, The Nathanael G. Herreshoff Trophy.

The burgee of BHYC, as shown on a photo available on the club website, is white with a blue star.
